Duda for King County ("the Campaign," "we," "us") is the candidate committee for Nick Duda, candidate for King County Council, District 8. This policy explains what information we collect through nickduda.com and our text-messaging program, how we use it, how long we keep it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Information you give us directly: your name, email address, mailing address, and phone number when you sign up to volunteer, receive updates, request a yard sign, contact us, or opt in to text messages.
Information from public records and data providers: names, addresses, phone numbers, and voter registration information from publicly available voter records and from vendors that compile public and commercially available data. We use this information to contact voters about the campaign.
Contribution information required by Washington State law when you donate, which is collected and processed by our payment processor and reported to the Washington Public Disclosure Commission as required.
Basic technical information collected automatically by our website host (Squarespace) through cookies and server logs, such as browser type and pages visited, used to keep the site running and understand how it is used.
How we use your information
We use this information to communicate with you about the campaign by email, text message, phone call, and mail, including volunteer opportunities, events, election dates, voting information, and ways to help; to respond to your messages; to process contributions; and to comply with campaign finance reporting requirements.
Text messaging (SMS)
If you provide your mobile number and opt in, we will send you text messages about the campaign, including event reminders, volunteer requests, voting information, and campaign updates. You can expect to receive no more than 3 texts per week. Message and data rates may apply. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except for the service providers that send messages on our behalf and as required by law.
Sharing of information
We share information only with service providers who help us operate the campaign (for example, our website host, email and text-messaging platforms, and payment processor), and only so they can perform those services for us. We disclose contributor information to the Washington Public Disclosure Commission as required by law, and we may disclose information when required by law or legal process. We do not sell your personal information.
How long we keep your information
We keep your information for the duration of the campaign and for as long as Washington campaign finance law requires us to retain records, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
How we protect your information
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, including limiting access to campaign staff and volunteers who need it, to protect your information from unauthorized access or disclosure.
Your choices
You may unsubscribe from campaign emails using the link in any email, opt out of text messages by replying STOP, or contact us at info@nickduda.com to update or delete your information.
Children
Our website and messaging program are not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from minors.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
