NicK Duda
for King County Council
A common-sense Democrat focused on outcomes, accountability, and making King County work better for the people who live here
Why I'm Running“Ask yourself honestly: is our region better off than it was nine years ago?”
Everyone I talk with in our district wants the same things: safe streets, good schools, treatment for those who are suffering, clean air and water, an affordable place to raise a family or start a business, and a government responsive to its community.
My campaign is about improving our outcomes. That means public safety with real accountability, compassionate paths to recovery, more housing, better transit, and a government that measures success by results, not spending.
01 - PUBLIC SAFETY
Rebuild the social contract.
Compassion means protecting people from harm. Accountability means enforcing reasonable rules.
1- Fix the intake system. Properly staff jail medical intake so arrests do not routinely turn into failed bookings or hours-long hospital waits.
2 - Take trafficking seriously. Target pimps and traffickers while giving victims housing, services, and a path to clear their records.
3 - Restore consequences. Use diversion where appropriate, but escalate consequences for chronic and organized offenders.
THE GOAL
Protect communities → Restore consequences → Rebuild trust
02 - TREATMENT & RECOVERY
A pathway to recovery.
Compassion means helping people recover. Accountability means expecting change and working toward independence.
1 - Treatment when people need it. Expand public capacity and utilize private treatment beds when necessary.
2 - Intervene earlier. Create stabilization centers and fix the broken jail medical-intake process.
3 - Build sober housing. Give people in recovery somewhere safe to live away from active drug use and dealing.
THE GOAL
Stabilize → Treat → Recover → Rebuild Independence
03 - HOUSING & TRANSIT
Get more from what we build.
If we're going to invest billions in transit, we should build around it, protect it, and make it work for everyone.
1- Make transit safer and fairer. Accessible fare gates paired with reduced and free fares for people who qualify.
2 -Build more housing near light rail. Allow substantially more density within several blocks of stations.
3 - Create complete neighborhoods. Make room for groceries, childcare, and everyday needs around transit.
THE GOAL
More Housing → Safer Transit → Higher Ridership → Better Value
04 - ACCOUNTABILITY & MEASURABLE OUTCOMES
Good government isn’t measured by how much we spend.
It’s measured by what we accomplish.
Set measurable goals. Publish the results. Scale what works. Change what doesn't. Strengthen audits and contract oversight before failures become crises.
THE GOAL
Stabilize → Treat → Recover → Rebuild Independence
05 - FRONTIER INDUSTRIES
Build the future here.
King County should be the best place in America to build the technologies of the future.
1 - Fast-track permitting
Clear timelines and one accountable point of contact.
2 - Protect industrial land
Keep the space, power, freight and infrastructure needed to build.
3 - Build the workforce
Train machinists, technicians, engineers and skilled trades.
4 - Become a proving ground
Use measurable pilots to let local companies solve public problems.
THE GOAL
Build it here → Grow it here → Create family-wage jobs here
A DIFFERENT STANDARD FOR KING COUNTY
Practical. Compassionate. Accountable
If you believe government should be ambitious about helping people and equally serious about measuring results, join the campaign.
